Research Seminar: The Implications of Pay Range Transparency by Prof. Tae Youn Park, SKK Business School, Sungkyunkwan University

On 14 January 2025, Professor Tae Youn Park delivered a compelling research seminar on “The Implications of Pay Range Transparency.”

Professor Park’s research showed that pay transparency could affect gender differences in job-seeking and negotiation behaviors, balancing both academic rigor and practical relevance. While risk aversion explains some gendered effects, it might not fully capture gender dynamics, so employers should clearly set and explain pay ranges.

The seminar highlighted how gender differences relate to pay range choices and the changing nature of risk preferences over a lifetime. Professor Park also addressed common research questions, providing young scholars and PhD students a clearer understanding of these critical concepts.

Despite transparent salary ranges, the seminar highlighted that gender wage gaps may still exist due to different risk aversions and confidence levels, with women often preferring narrower pay ranges.

We extend our gratitude to everyone who participated in this enlightening seminar.
