SAS Data Mining Award for MS Students

Since 2001, the Department of Management Sciences from the City University of Hong Kong has been offering Enterprise Data Mining course for the BBA (Hons) Managerial Statistics Programme (under three-year structure) and BBA (Hons) Business Analysis Programme (under four-year structure) . Students of both Programmes are required to do a group project using the data mining techniques and SAS Enterprise Miner skills to solve real-life business problems in the final year of study.

Professor David D. Yao is elected to National Academy of Engineering

Our Adjunct Professor David D. Yao (Piyasombatkul Family Professor of Columbia University) has been elected to National Academy of Engineering in the US for understanding of stochastic systems and their applications in engineering and service operations. MS Alumni Receives Distinguished Awards

Dr. Wang Qiang, a PhD graduate of MS (2000) and now a professor at University of International Business and Economics, recently received the awards of 國家百千萬人才工程 and 有突出貢獻中青年專家。 國家百千萬人才工程是由人力資源和社會保障部、科技部、教育部等七部委聯合組織實施的一項國家重大人才培養計畫,面向專業技術人員實施,重點選拔培養瞄準世界科技前沿,能引領和支撐國家重大科技、關鍵領域實現跨越式發展的高層次中青年領軍人才。

MS PhD Alumni Won 2015 CORS Practice Prize

A research team led by Prof. Guoqing Zhang (MS PhD 2000 and now a professor at the University of Windsor) has won the prestigious Practice Prize of the Canadian Operational Research Society. The prize recognizes an outstanding application of operational research by a Canadian that has had a significant, verifiable and quantifiable impact on the performance of the client organization. The title of the winning project is “Modeling of the Air Cargo Network Flow Optimization”. The Prize was awarded on June 16, 2015 at the CORS National Conference in Montreal.
