CB scores victory in CityU Inter-College Staff tournament

The College of Business won the Herman Hu Cup: CityU Inter-College Staff basketball Tournament at the CityU Sport Complex on 29th November.

The event was supported by the Human Resources Office in celebration of the 30th Anniversary of CityU. It aimed to promote friendship and the overall physical and mental wellbeing of CityU staff.

The tournament was held throughout November. Five teams of a maximum team size of 30 were invited from Colleges (one team per College), Schools (one joint team), and central administration (one joint team) to participate in the event. Shooting competitions were also held concurrent to the main tournament.

Honorary manager Dean Prof Houmin Yan, team manager Dr Ron Kwok, Associate Professor of the Department of Information Systems, and team captain Dr Jeff Wang, Assistant Professor of the Department of Marketing, led the players from the six CB departments:

  • Mr Chi-shing Chan, Graduate Teaching Assistant of the Department of Management Sciences
  • Dr Liwen Chen, Assistant Professor of the Department of Marketing
  • Mr Jie Hong, Senior Research Associate of the Department of Economics and Finance
  • Dr Joseph Atkins Johnston, Assistant Professor of the Department of Accountancy
  • Mr Zhitao Lin, Research Associate of the Department of Economics and Finance
  • Mr Yang Liu, Research Assistant of the Department of Information Systems
  • Prof Maris Martinsons, Professor of the Department of Management
  • Dr John Edward Nowland, Assistant Professor of the Department of Accountancy

The CB basketball team won all five games against Team Schools, Team CSE, Team CLASS, Team Admin, and Team CSE in the finals. The victory was a fitting achievement for the collective endeavour of the entire team.

Also congratulations to Dr Ling Ge who was champion of the woman’s shooting competition, and Mr Yang Liu for winning in the man’s shooting competition while Dr Jeff Wang for first runner-up place.
