CityU Exchanges Fair 2015

The Internationalization team of the College of Business hosted the CityU Exchanges Fair on 7th October. More than 500 guests and students attended the event.

Dr Mary Pang, Associate Dean of the College of Business (Internationalization), opened the event with a welcome speech. “Having so many inbound and outbound students today, I am very impressed by their collective work. Just look around these amazing booths which have been designed and decorated by them, I can see their creativity, talent and passion. Their support contributes to the success of today’s event. I hope all the participants enjoy the fair.”

Dr Pang also expressed her gratitude to CB colleagues and the committee members of the Exchange Student Club in making the event successful.

Also attending the opening ceremony were Ms Helen Lam, Associate Director of Global Services Office; Dr Sidney Leung, committee member on International Exchange of the College, Associate Professor of the Department of Accountancy; Ms Pancy Lo,  Miss Phobe Cheng and Mr William Leung, Executive Officers of Global Services Office.

22 booths were set up by the inbound exchange students to display specialties from their home countries such as food, souvenirs, and trinkets. The students also made great efforts in decorating the booths, dressing up traditional clothes and introducing their countries to visitors.  The annual Best Booth Prize this year was awarded to the booths representing the United States and China.

Rap singing by Magnus Hodnekvam, exchange student from Norway, and musical performance by local students Victor Wu and Perze Kwong, were the highlights of the event. Their professional performances won the audience’s loud applause and appreciation.

Through the well-established Student Exchange Programme, the College aims to create a multi-cultural and vibrant learning environment on campus. The College annually sends over 50% of the BBA students overseas for a semester of study around the world. In turn, hundreds of international students are received every year into our College for study.

“CityU and the College of Business highly value the importance of global insight, so increasing the level of internationalization is always our target and mission. In this Exchanges Fair, all of us can enjoy this precious opportunity to understand Hong Kong and our global neighbours in a different way. We hope that our classmates are not only exchanging goods but also understanding the meaning and stories behind them,” Ernest Liu said, President of the Exchange Student Club 2015-2016.

The Exchange Student Club is a student organization supported by the College of Business. It aims to encourage interactions between international and local students and to assist inbound students to have a better integration into the local community.
