MBA students visit Silicon Valley

A two-week Entrepreneurship and Venture Plan Development workshop was arranged for MBA students to learn about entrepreneurial skills, from formulating ideas to crafting pitches for venture capital at UC Berkeley in March 2018.

The workshop aimed to broaden the students’ global mindset. Veteran practitioners Ms Maura O’Neill, the first Chief of Innovation at United States Agency for International Development, and Mr Sean Foote, an experienced venture capitalist, were invited to share insights in the go-to-market strategies and profit models on capital management, respectively.

Besides participating in a series of interactive learning-by-doing activities on campus, the group also visited innovative start-ups such as Ocho Candy, HAX, and Eargo, and had a tour around Google, one of the world’s most innovative companies.

Another highlight was a meeting with a panel formed by experienced entrepreneurs from San Francisco start-ups: NeuroTrainer, Shop.co, and Unite Genomics. The panel openly disclosed their business challenges, triumphs and future plans with the students. They also shared some real-life cases in the meeting.
