Dean of CB speaks at Belt and Road Davos Forum


2019 World Economic Forum was held in Davos, Switzerland on 22-25 January, with a theme “Globalization 4.0: Shaping a Global Architecture in the Age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution”. Professor Houmin Yan, Dean of the College of Business, was invited to join and speak at the Third Belt and Road Davos Forum on 24 January.

The Third Belt and Road Davos Forum was hosted by Tsinghua University, the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research, and co-organised by the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau of the HKSAR Government.

Speaking in the panel discussion on promoting coordinated regional development and opening-up at a higher level under the framework of Belt and Road initiative, Professor Yan shared his views on Belt and Road Initiatives and Asia supply chain. He elaborated from a technical perspective and touched upon corporate governance, corporation finance and regulatory requirements of public listed companies in Hong Kong.

Also attending the forum were Mr Huang Yong, Director General of the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission; Mrs Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of HKSAR; Mr Rosen Asenov Plevneliev, former President of Bulgaria; Mr Djoomart Kaipovich Otorbaev, former Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan; Ms Olga Algayerova, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe; and Professor Qiu Yong, President of Tsinghua University.
