  • Who are Uyghurs?
  • Are they the aboriginal people of Xinjiang?
  • Where did they come from?
  • When did China exercise de facto control over Xinjiang?
  • Why is there growing Uyghur separatism despite post-1978 economic development in Xinjiang?
