City Seminar on tea culture

The first lecture of the City Seminar Series, organized by the College of Business, featured Prof Pei-kai Cheng, Visiting Professor of the Department of Chinese and History and scholar in Chinese historical consciousness, to discuss Lu Yu and Tea 陸羽與茶道:人文品味與道德修養.

Prof Cheng shared with us the history of tea, its origin, variations, production, and tools. He also expanded on the spiritual realm of tea culture, how the act of drinking tea has evolved so that it can stabilise morality, refine our sense of humanity, and purify the soul.

A full house of 100 attended the lecture held on 10th October.

About the City Seminar

The City Seminar 香港席明納 has been initiated by Prof Houmin Yan, Dean of the College, with the aim to discuss topics together (席Xí), to understand such topic in depth (明Míng), and to gain something of value from the discussions (納Nà).

The College will be inviting a number of professors and/or scholars to explore various topics during the series.
