Peter Wong Tung Shun is Chief Executive Officer The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited. He is also a Group Managing Director and a member of the Group Management Board.
Mr Wong's banking career began in 1980 when he joined Citibank as Assistant Financial Controller. He held a number of positions over the following 16 years, including Director of Business Development, Deputy Managing Director and Director of Banking, before becoming Director of Sales, Services and Distribution Channels for Citibank's North Asian operations in 1996 (Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Philippines).
He joined Standard Chartered Bank in 1997 as Head of Consumer Banking for its Hong Kong and China operations. In 2000, he was appointed Chief Executive and General Manager for Hong Kong, while simultaneously assuming responsibility for its China operations.
In 2005, he joined HSBC. From April 2005 to January 2010, he was Group General Manager and Executive Director, Hong Kong and Mainland China of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited.
He also participates in many important appointments including Member of the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, President of the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers and Chairman of the Banking Industry Training Advisory Committee, etc.
