Dr Shenje Hshieh (Department of Economics & Finance) is a dedicated teacher continually striving to improve students’ learning. To bridge the gap between theory and practice, he links financial concepts to daily life examples, and connects students to the finance industry through engaging practitioners in seminars and project evaluations. To introduce students to the forefront of the domain knowledge, he integrates his own research as well as latest innovations in his courses. To enhance learning effectiveness, he incorporates new technologies into classroom, which has been found to be particularly useful for online teaching during COVID-19 pandemic. Caring about students’ individual progress, he offers consultation to students during virtual office hours, provides recorded lectures with transcription and offers optional special lecture sessions. Outside of the classroom, he provides guidance and support for students’ future success, through internship supervision, academic referral and placement support.
