An EMBA Frontier Forum was held by the College of Business and HK Tech 300 at City University of Hong Kong Co-working Space in Admiralty on 16 March, with Professor Anthony Wu Ting-yuk, former member of the National Committee of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and former chairman of the Hospital Authority, delivering the keynote speech.

Professor Michael M Yang, Senior Vice-President (Innovation and Enterprise) of CityU, kicked off the forum by introducing CityU's commitment to promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in Hong Kong and the nearby region. He shared the origin of HK Tech 300, its current status, and a multi-million fund plan in collaboration with six top universities in Mainland China and Southeast Asia. Moreover, Professor Yang encouraged the forum participants, the majority of them being EMBA students or alumni, to leverage this growth trend and contribute to the development of Hong Kong as an international innovation and technology hub.

Professor Wu discussed how Hong Kong can leverage its advantages and become a science and technology hub. "Human capital is important. We need some success stories to let everybody know that innovation is the future and be confident to move along this direction. It is essential to improve education quality to attract and cultivate leading I&T talents, injecting vitality into the science and technology field. The government also plays a key role in providing housing and lifestyle support policies needed by science and technology personnel, creating an environment conducive to innovation. At the same time, strengthening the understanding and protection of laws related to science and technology, intellectual property, is pivotal to protect the legality and rights of creative and innovative outputs," he said.

The forum provided the opportunity for the audience to gain valuable insights and directions in the future development path of innovation and technology in Hong Kong.
