Chinese Consumer Confidence Index

The Chinese Consumer Confidence index measures consumer confidence in the cross-strait regions including the mainland, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. The CCCI provides an indication of future developments of the Chinese consumer’s consumption and saving, based on their expectation of commodity price levels, sentiment about the general economic situation, employment prospects, property purchases and stock investments. The index is jointly constructed by five Universities in the cross-strait region and Hong Kong and Macau, and has been releasing results on a quarterly basis since 2008.

The Hong Kong Consumer Confidence Index, a sub-index of the CCCI, is constructed by the Statistical Consulting Unit, housed in the Department of Management Sciences of City University of Hong Kong.
